TIME-BASED CONSEQUENCE OF THE WAVERING LANDSCAPE


8.00am, Rule will measure and cater to the low tide, providing layers of steps for birds to climb up the isle.


12.pm high tide: Revolvers that buried under water revolve themselves rapidly under torrents of water, generating light and heat to attract birds.


The landscape blurred terribly under fiesty windy weather, some parts in the mechanism in the ruler will rise to shelter the birds from being blown away.


Rainy days:the entire apparatus violates itself, collecting energy to generate turbulence.


Hot days: the apparatus swells, promoting air currents exchange between the isle and water to optimise the living conditions of birds.


Frozen days: this apparatus utilises tidal water to revolve, generating energy to create a small non-freezing area,favoured by the birds.

callibrating the shoreline of the lagoon

In this step i will focu on the idea of designing a 'ruler' that measures
and callibrates the shoreline of the lagoon as it fluctuates. develop
and detail what this ruler is measuring and who could inhabit it, for
example, it could be a landing strip for a particular species of
migrating bird, whereby plant and seed the infrastructure of the
ruler to attract the birds.



The ruler measures and calibrates the shoreline, generating a blurring landscape under the influence of tide and wind.


These revolving objects spin themselves at different rates according to water velocity and they close and open frequently, adjusting to water level that supports them.



The landing mechanism utilises instant release of elastic energy to move and vibrate itself, making it a dynamic landing platform to attract and help birds during taking off.

A new landscape in between of geological formations and mandate sites in the lagoon























Project
The Digestive System
It aims to either sediment the hazardous particles, or convert them into the end products of microorganisms (probiotics). The process will cater to the factors in the environment, such as tide, wind, rain and sunlight, using the sediments and microorganisms to built a restless landscape as well as play the part of ecology defender of the lagoon.

The Breathing System
Contained in the air near the surface of the water, there are a lot of mineral particles and microorganisms made by the aforementioned digestive system. Especially when there is enough turbulence in the water, the exchange of materials between water and air will intensify. The system aims to inhale the air full of the exchanged materials from the water and let them be more available to the customers, just like what lungs do.

The Core Behavior: Making Turbulence
To realize the above-mentioned project, turbulence is the most important catalyst. Turbulences in the water can stir up sediments on the riverbeds to realize the process of generating microorganisms, as well as increase the exchange between water and air. The core behavior of the objects is making turbulence by utilizing the natural power architecturally.

Conclusion
A new landscape will be formed in between of geological formations and mandate sites in the lagoon, turning the lagoon a restless landscape that responds to the changing environments. It is organic and constantly on the move.

TERM3




















This project is a kind of performative design. It attempts to reintegrate architectural form and performance as well as seeks techniques following the core ideas of ecological design. Architectural Ecology here will focus on group behaviors in a real-world environment, reintroducing a relationship between ecology and performance. To some extent, the project is already a product of human intervention.
